The removed tissue is then examined on site by one of our Mohs histotechnicians, to accurately map and identify any microscopic cancerous cells. This process is unlike conventional skin cancer removal techniques, which typically look only at small areas of the edges of suspicious spots. Our very own Dr. Ewanowski, who is highly trained and experienced in Mohs surgery, examines every edge, including the bottom of the tissue. This special micrographic process allows for highly targeted removal of cancerous cells, while saving as much healthy skin as possible, all during a simple, outpatient procedure.
