Nicholas Castner, MD
Dr. Nicholas Castner is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon. Born and raised in Bradenton, Dr. Castner is a first-generation physician who was inspired to go into medicine and dermatologic surgery after a close family experience with skin cancer.
Dr. Castner graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida. He attended medical school at the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society during his junior year, the top academic honor bestowed upon physicians and physicians in training. While in medical school, Dr. Castner completed skin cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center; the same institution that affected his family and inspired him in his childhood to pursue a career in medicine and dermatologic oncology. He completed his dermatology residency at Stony Brook University followed by a prestigious fellowship in micrographic (Mohs) surgery and dermatologic oncology at Mount Sinai in New York City. During this rigorous fellowship, Dr. Castner completed greater than 1000 surgical cases. Since graduation, Dr. Castner has completed several thousand more cases and counting. Dr. Castner has accumulated numerous scientific publications, presentations, and lectures on the subjects of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer as well as facial reconstructive surgery, among other topics.
Dr. Castner enjoys lifting weights, fishing, passionately rooting for all the Tampa Bay sports teams, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and trying new restaurants.
