Dr. George vonHilsheimer MD
Dr. George vonHilsheimer is a highly experienced skin cancer surgeon who trained at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC. He was among the first physicians in the country to become double board certified in both dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. Dr. vonHilsheimer is a long standing Fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery, and has performed thousands of skin cancer surgeries with excellent outcomes.
Dr. vonHilsheimer has held dermatology teaching faculty appointments at the University of Florida, Emory University, the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine, and Martin Army Hospital. He won numerous awards for teaching residents.
Dr. vonHilsheimer grew up in DeLand, FL. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and flew Cobra and Apache attack helicopters for the US Army prior to attending medical school. He is a decorated veteran of three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan (one as a pilot and two as a flight surgeon) and was also serving in the Pentagon during the terrorist attack of 9/11/2001, where he treated many wounded patients. Following his military career, Dr. vonHilsheimer entered private practice as a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon in the Florida Panhandle and Florida Keys for 10 years before joining MacInnis Dermatology.
Above all else, “Dr. V”, as his patients often refer to him, prides himself on caring for his patients the same way he would want any member of his own family cared for.
Dr. vonHilsheimer has four children. In his spare time, he enjoys singing and playing guitar. He has performed at numerous venues to raise money for charity.
