Many patients are curious why repeated treatments are necessary, and the reason is simply physiologic and not
financial. The laser works by disabling hair follicles that are
actively producing hair at the time of treatment. This specific
part of the hair cycle is known as the anagen phase. At any time,
some hair follicles are dormant, the so-called telogen and catagen phases. Hairs in this part of the cycle are not touched by the laser,
so therefore to maximize hair removal, several visits are necessary
for total treatment to attempt to target the anagen hairs. Dr.
Ewanowski and his staff will work with you to develop the
optimal treatment strategy, but typically plan upon undergoing
at least three treatments on a monthly basis, as a starter regimen.
